I love reading about massive construction projects, especially $25 billion dam projects. The BBC posted this story about the Three Gorges dam on the Yangtze River in central China. According to the article, the dam won't be completed until the end of the decade, but they've already started to let water into the reservoir. As with everything in the world, there are tradeoffs. On one hand, 600,000 people have already been forced to relocate because their towns are in areas that will be flooded. On the other hand, the project should eliminate catastrophic flooding and provide economical hydroelectric power to the Chinese community.
