Multiple USB Types

As if there isn't enough of a problem in the tech-world of competing standards, USB has to be added to the list now. Enter the USB Implementation Forum, who decided at the end of last year to re-do the USB naming scheme. The difference will be that USB 1.1 will be dubbed USB 2.0 Full-Speed and USB 2.0 will now be referred to as USB 2.0 High-Speed. Now tell me, was it necessary to change the names?

Trains On Auto-Pilot

After 7 years, Singapore now has the world's first fully automated commuter train. Connecting 16 stations and serving an estimated 250,000 people per day, this new train communicates with 500 different computer systems in order to operate. The only human intervention on the line will be a few customer service attendants to assist passengers. (via Lockergnome)

Movable Type Tags

Now that I'm using Movable Type as a blogging tool, I need to become more familiar with the template tags. Fortunately, Lockergnome suggested a site that has an outline of Movable Type tags along with a brief description of each in a slick DHTML menu.

I'm in the market for a new camera and have been looking at several models, including the Canon PowerShot S230 and PowerShot S200.

Wired Magazine has released their list of the 40 Most Wired Companies. Not only are there 13 companies that didn't make the cut this year, but only 10 of the original 40 remain on the list.

If nothing else, SAP is a very smart company. It was just announced that SAP will be launching a global ad campaign to attract some of the PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards customer's turned off by Oracle's bid last week to take over the merged company. Look for the first ad in Thursday's Wall Street Journal.

Computerworld has published their 100 Best Places To Work in IT for 2003. Even though The Home Depot wasn't listed this year, I feel comfortable knowing 7 of the 100 are based in Georgia (most in the Atlanta area). Guess it wouldn't hurt to keep the resume updated.

I just got my first glimpse of the new Treo 600 today. Treocentral has an article that shows Jeff Hawkins proudly displaying the new device. The article also has some of the details of the new Treo. Maybe I WILL keep my SprintPCS service for a little longer. (credit to Lockergnome)
